Skiing with a Camera on my Goggles!

picture of 808 camera I have an 808 model/version 16 micro "key chain" camera that I simply velcro'ed to the top of my ski goggles. Considering this thing was under $50 USD, I'd say it works pretty well! Do a search on Ebay for "808 Camera" and you'll find them for sale. Mine has the optional 120-degree "fish eye" wide angle lens installed which distorts the image quite a bit but does a great job of capturing all the action! If the link is still good, here is what and where exactly I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180937263580 if the link is not good anymore, try this: http://stores.ebay.com/eletoponline365 who is a highly rated seller for these things.

This tiny thing only has enough internal battery power to run it for about 35 minutes, so I also have a USB battery pack (one of those things you can charge a phone from if you happen to be away from AC power) that I put in a pocket and run a small USB cable up to the camera for hours of record time. This battery pack also helps with another problem that sometimes happens with using the camera skiing: sometimes the internal battery gets so cold it quits powering the camera! The external battery lives in a warm pocket so keeps delivering. I also had an issue with a "too thin" USB cable that couldn't provide some of the surge currents to keep the camera running anytime the built in battery was too cold.

Oh and in case 720p isn't enough for you, they now sell 1080p versions of this camera for a little more money. For me this 720p resolution is fine as most of the picture quality complaints I have with it are not related to the total resolution anyway, but perhaps some of those issues are now better too. Anyway still happy with this thing and obviously have had a lot of fun with it!

If your Internet connection speed and computing device can handle it, be sure to try "Full Screen" and 720p mode as that is what it was originally recorded in and on a big screen can actually make you dizzy!
