Deep Moguls and Hard Snow Made for Challenging day at Taos, NM (March 11, 2013)

Tired at the end of the day. At least that is my excuse for hitting the tree as captured in this video.

Too Much Snow at Taos Feb, 22, 2015

A lot of nice fresh powder fell overnight. Normally this is a very good thing but it delayed opening due to avalanche danger. In fact they never fully opened the "back side" or ridge. This meant all the powder hunters were crowded on the front side for quite awhile (in the beginning only the base lifts were running!). I went over to lift 8 for most of the day because for some reason, not many people were over there. Had fun on Blue runs I usually find boring, snow was light and fluffy (perfect powder), but day was overcast and "gloomy" making for poor video, so didn't produce much from this day.

First time on New Kachina Peak Lift at Taos on March 8, 2015

Skiing Kachina Peak, somewhere around "Main Street" and "K5"

So this is the first time I've been here when the new Kachina Peak chair has been open (Last time had extream avalanche danger). I guess it has been very popular in the short time it has been open as I don't think there was any fresh tracks to be made. That said, I was surpised how nice the snow was up here making the runs a litte easier than I expected. I think we took the easiest way down however.

Skiing Kachina Peak, is this "Main Street" or was that one of the closed runs I found?

So this is our second run off this lift. Decided to explore the other side of the chair. Found some closed runs that would be worthy of a visit another time. This route was a little harder, but also more interesting.

Skiing "Ronda's Glade" (all three sections)

Pretty good snow in these trees today, a little heavy, but well covered and fun

End of season, April 5th, 2015 (Easter Sunday, I'm so irreverent!)

Skiing New Lift Accessible Kachina Peak runs: 2nd Day, I'm not so afraid!

So last time I was here (first time on this slope) I was a little afraid to be very aggressive. This time I wanted to do these runs with more of my full ability, which compared to others that typically do these runs, is not that impressive but that is why I call myself an "Advanced" skier, not an "Expert" one. In fact with today's snow conditions I wouldn't even consider these runs "Double Black" and certainly not "Taos Double Black". Still the bumps are bigger than they appear in the video and the slope is kind of steep so this run still gives me quite a workout.

Skiing Kachina Peak, Maybe around "K4 and K3"

So I'm sneaking further west along the Kachina Peak slope. Not quite to "Cabin Chute" yet. Maybe next year (It was almost closing day for the the season). Really liking this new terrain. The bright sun washed out the video (and overheated me!) a little but it mostly still came out.

Skiing Kachina Peak, Mostly "Main Street" found?

Still decent footage despite much of the bumps being washed out by the bright sunlight. Since I did this run a few weeks ago, I'm a little more aggressive this time. The problem is that I got more tired. Oh well, really this is about at my ability level.
